Week 1 of FireBootCamp Sydney started with or first guest mentor Andrew Coates. Andrew is a Developer Evangelist at Microsoft Australia and a good friend of FireBootCamp.
He helped the students navigate around Windows Azure and showed them how to get their project deployed to the Windows Azure platform.
Windows Azure Web Sites enables you to deploy web applications on a scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure.
Andrew taught the students:
- How easy it is to create Windows Azure Web Sites
- How to implement Continuous Deployment from Team Foundation Service so that every checkin automatically deploys to a staging server on Azure
- How Windows Azure Web Sites now make it easy to have a Staging website and a Production website and to be able to swap your Staging instance with your Production instance.
This video is great for anyone who wants to know the advantages of Windows Azure and get up and running fast.
Find out how you can become a world class .NET developer in 9 weeks at FireBootCamp.

[…] As a .Net guy… you need to be familiar with Azure. It’s remarkable how easy it has become to build and deploy web applications to the cloud. In 30 minutes I can create a source code repository on http://visualstudio.com, check in an MVC project and have it continuously deploying to an Azure website with both Release and Staging environments.Check out Andrew Coates from Microsoft doing continuous deployment to Azure at FireBootCamp.
